Tvistsom is an attractive form of folk embroidery practised in Sweden since the seventeenth century. It has a texture and tightness that makes it endurable and highly functional. It can be worked in wool on even weave cotton canvas, or in linen thread on even weave fabric with the background left unworked.
The designs can be used on clothing, table linen, handbags, pillows, pictures, ornaments, upholstery etc.
